Back in 1986, my brother John and I traveled to the Kingdom of Nepal. It had been one of my dreams as a kid looking though the National Geographic Magazine to someday make this trip a reality. There is nothing like trekking in the highest mountain range in the world. To view Everest, earth's highest point, with your own eyes. To climb to 17,000 Ft. and gasp for air that isn't there.

(BOTTOM LEFT) Eleven year old Lakva could carry an eighty pound pack with no trouble at all.
Our original destination was Everest Base camp at 17,600 Ft. At this point we would climb a non-technical peak of Kala Pattar at over 18000 Ft. Here we would have had the best views of earth's highest point. Unfortunately one of our party got sick and we were forced to change our plans.
