Hike into the Enchantment Lakes...
Panarama of the Enchantments
Above view taken looking west with all the upper enchantment lakes still snowed in. It's a magical land that must be experienced! Like explorers who first set foot on the moon, this barren and isolated land has a spiritual definition that cannot be described. The high point is Aasgard Pass at 7800 ft. We were unable to complete the entire enchantment odyssey due to factors that were out of our control. ( see "The Michael Dunbar Report" ) He has an excellent account of a different odyssey that all seven of us experienced coming up the Icicle / Snow Creek trail. Its not fun being caught in a thunder and lightning storm and who can forget the boulders coming down the hill at us? I will let Michael tell the rest of the story.

After regrouping, we proceeded back in via the Colchuck Lake / Aasgard Pass route. We camped at Colchuck and day hiked up Aasgard Pass. The Pass gains over 2200 ft. in 1/2 mile. All of it is a rock slide area. Not my favorite!
